As included in your Sarnath tour package, your trip will kickstart with a visit to Sarnath, a world-renowned Buddhist pilgrimage site located just 10-12 km away from Varanasi. Our chauffeur will come to pick you up at 2:00 PM from the hotel.
After you reach Sarnath, you will discover Chaukhandi Stupa, built during the Gupta period. The site holds great spiritualsignificance as Buddha met his first five disciples here.
After this, we will take you to another important Buddhist pilgrimage site—Dhamek Stupa. It is the holy place where Gautam Buddha taught his first sermon to his first five disciples. Circumambulating the stupa, devotees seek blessings from Gautam Buddha. It was built by Emperor Ashoka in 249 B.C.E. The stupa is 43.6 m taller in height.
Next, you will take a stroll through the Mulagandha Kuti Vihar, which is one of the most popular and greatest tourist attractions in the world. There is a Buddhist temple situated inside the complex and founded by Angarika Dharampala, the founder of Maha Bodhi society. The temple contains the relics of Gautam Buddha. The place is best known for frescos and murals containing Buddhist writings.
After the end of the Sarnath trip, our chauffeur will take you on the Varanasi Ganga Aarti tour, to experience the traditional Ganga Aarti performed every day at the holy Dashashwamedh Ghat. The Aarti is performed by priests holding lighted lamps along with the mantra chanting to seek blessings from Goddess Ganga. Every day, a huge crowd of devotees from around the world come to attend this auspicious Ganga Aarti.
After the evening Aarti, our chauffeur will drop you back at the hotel.
