The Taj Mahal is undoubtedly one of the most popular tourist attractions in the world. Recognized as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, it is a travel lover’s paradise. From unbelievably symmetrical architecture and intricate design to the story of immortal love that is the foundation of its creation, everything about the Taj Mahal is intriguing and enchanting. So, it’s no surprise that globetrotters like you look forward to visiting this magnificent white mausoleum. But, before you book your Taj Mahal tour package, let us provide you with all the necessary details that will make your visit convenient. Have a look!

Taj Mahal Ticket prices for Domestic and International Tourists

One of the most commonly asked questions is about the Taj Mahal ticket price. It’s important to know that the ticket price varies for domestic and international tourists. For Indian citizens and OCI cardholders, the ticket price is as low as just Rs50. If you are a SAARC or BIMSTEC country citizen, you will have to pay a nominal amount of Rs540 to visit the Taj Mahal. For foreign tourists, the Taj Mahal ticket is priced at Rs1100.

Please note that if you wish to visit the main mausoleum inside the Taj Mahal complex, you will have to pay an additional cost of Rs200. This price remains constant across all the three categories of visitors mentioned above. For kids below the age of 15, no entry fee is charged.

Taj Mahal Visiting Hours

Wondering about the Taj Mahal's opening and closing times? Let us help you with that. On normal days of operation, the Taj Mahal opens 30 minutes before the sun rises and closes 30 minutes before it sets. The monument remains closed every Friday, so do not plan a visit on that day. You can enter the Taj Mahal through the Eastern and Western Gates, whereas the Southern gate is only available for exits. There’s a separate entrance queue for foreigners and Indians and the signs will guide you to them as you make your way through the gate. You can also head to the Taj Museum inside the complex from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM—free of charge!

A few things to keep in mind when entering the monument are:

  1. You must carry a government-issued identification proof.
  2. You cannot bring drone cameras to capture the monument.
  3. Carrying a water bottle is allowed within the Taj Mahal complex.
  4. Shoe covers are to be used when entering the complex.
  5. Eating or drinking is not allowed inside the monument.
  6. Mobile phones can be carried with you, but they have to be in silent mode.
  7. Any kind of photography is strictly forbidden inside the main mausoleum.
  8. Since the Taj is a precious heritage building, scratching or damaging its surface in any way is not permitted.

Taj Mahal Ticket Booking

The entry tickets for visiting the Taj Mahal are available at the entry gate ticket counters. You can buy your ticket from both the Eastern and Western gate outlets. However, the counters are only open from an hour before sunrise to 45 minutes before sunset, so do not get late.

To avoid standing in long queues at the ticket counter, we recommend the Taj Mahal online ticket booking service. If you are a domestic tourist, you get a Rs5 discount per ticket on online booking. For foreign tourists, the discount is Rs50 per ticket.

A foreigner’s ticket doesn’t just buy you entry into the monument. It also includes other facilities like a water bottle, shoe covers, a guide map of Agra, and a golf cart and battery bus service.

Taj Mahal Tour Guide Services

Tour guides play a very important role in making your vacation a success. A good tour guide can give you precise details about things to see, places to visit, the best itineraries, and activities that must be undertaken. So, always make sure to hire a government-approved Taj Mahal tour guide with an authentic license. Check their identity card and license before allowing them to accompany you on the tour. The Taj Mahal guides are notorious for scamming and exploiting tourists, especially foreigners. They often overcharge visitors, so it's best to stick to legal and local guides to make the most of your trip.

As your reliable tour provider, we have tried to provide you with detailed information about Taj Mahal tourism, so that your tour is hassle-free and enjoyable.
